HIV subtypes of infected Filipino males between 1980 and 2013

A research on the HIV subtype among Filipino males shows that there was a continuing rise of the HIV subtype CRF01_AE among this group [1]. The subtype CRF01_AE has been reported to be more aggressive, meaning the time to death is reduced, and possibly it has more efficient transmission [2]. The group they study consists of  males between 19 to 51 years of age with the average age of 29 years old.
